I just wanted to sit down, enjoy some scenery and work out some puzzles. Quite good, if a bit short. Recomended.. Lake Ridden has an identity crisis.It tries to be a puzzle game, a walking simulator and have some kind of mystery narration. Some good, but the bad ones are repeated. As a walking simulator, you can open cupboards and pick up items, but apart from the forest, there's nothing to look at. The story is told with letters and quite bad voice acting, and in the ending, I'm not even sure who talked or what was happening overall. There's also hints of a horror game... walking with a lantern, lighting up torches and candles can feel a bit like Amnesia, though the soundtrack is calming and all the other scary bits are missing.Rather than being free investigation, the story just pushes the player to the right location and puzzle. Maybe I was expecting this to be a myst-like similar to Quern and Obduction.. I liked the game, has a cozy feeling to it.I got a bit confused of the story sometimes, but I played the game over a few spread out nights so that might have been the reason. Luckily you can re-read noted found along the way,I got frustrated sometimes about the puzzles, but it was a lot of stubborness to try solve it on my own instead of using the hints.. Fresh puzzle mechanisms, great ambiance, compelling story. If you're looking for action and adventure, go elsewhere. But if you want a great puzzle game to dive into long after the kids are asleep, this is your stop.. Really lovely game! Very good atmosphere!. I’m not sure who the target demographic for this game is. We've played lots of puzzle games over the years and Lake Ridden doesn’t scratch the itches that any of the others did. After playing it for 2 hours we decided it was best to refund it since the puzzles were very dry and we took that as a sign that they would continue being so for the rest of the game. Walking between the puzzles was monotonous, and while it wasn’t technically a “walking simulator” we can see why the devs had to come out to specifically refute the claims.. I would rate this game about 3 stars out of 5. I wouldn't strongly endorse it, but it had enough puzzles to keep me interested for the 6 to 7 hours I played it. The writing/story is not very good...and the voice acting is just plain bad. But, there was some good graphics and sceneic enviornments to keep it interesting. There were a couple puzzles at the end which I thought didn't make sense, even after getting the hint, but otherwise the puzzles were pretty straight forward.Not a bad game, not a great game...I would definitely wait for it to go on sale, at $10, it's worth it...at $20, it's not One Year Anniversary: Hello there,We're super happy Lake Ridden has already been out for one year!
